When the buzz began building in the sumer of 1998 about a new show on the WB network called Felicity, word was that it was "Ally McBeal in college." The actress chosen to play the part, Keri Russell, became that year's It Girl, the center of a publicity firestorm for the WB series. It became a turning point in her career, mirroring the life-altering decision made by the character herself.
Keri's credits prior to Felicity were typical for a young Hollywood actress: three years spent as a Mouseketeer, then a series of TV guest spots and movies-of-the-week plus a starring turn in a short-lived Aaron Spelling series in 1996. In 1998, along came Felicity.
Keri seems quintessentially Californian, as if the most natural place in the world for her to be is walking on the beach at sunset or sitting quietly on some rocky outcrop listening to the surf, alone with her thoughts and at peace with the world.
How, then, will this California girl fare in the Big Apple? Will
the experience change her? Probably. But for better or worse? Maybe
neither. Or both. Perhaps she will simply learn and grow and become
the person she was always going to be all along. I guess we'll just
have to watch and find out.
Felicity is over now and Keri is moving onward. Hopefully, other fans will enjoy my little page and follow with me the career of this remarkable actress.
